Sporran of the Highland Dragon
Item Type:
Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement)
Description:
Crafted from weathered brown leather and trimmed in soft rabbit fur, this traditional Highland dragon sporran is more than just fashionable gear. Worn proudly at the front of a belt or kilt sash, the sporran bears a hand-tooled design of a curled wyrm breathing Celtic knotwork flame.
The clasp is shaped like a tiny dragon claw with a natural leather loop.
Properties:
-
Pocket of Holding: This sporran contains an extra-dimensional space. It can store up to 60 pounds of small items (maximum volume 2 cubic feet), such as coins, herbs, scrolls, small tools, or—yes—even snacks.
-
Highland Breath (1/day): While attuned and wearing the sporran, you may let out a short-range puff of dragon’s breath (15 ft cone, 2d6 damage of your choice: fire, cold, or thunder). Creatures must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity save or take full damage.
-
Silent Swagger: While wearing the sporran, you gain advantage on Stealth checks made in natural terrain (forests, hills, moors). Somehow, the rabbit fur just muffles things.
Optional Flavor Add-ons:
-
If worn with full tartan regalia and a dram of mead in your system, gain +1 to Charisma (Performance) checks when telling tales or singing songs about dragons or battle.
-
Sporran smells faintly of heather, leather, and pipe smoke. Some say it hums on cold nights.
Lore:
Worn by the wandering bard MacRae the Wyrmsinger, this sporran was passed down through dragon-worshipping clans who believed their spirits could be summoned with bagpipes, bold tales, and a well-placed puff of draconic breath. Several dragons have agreed — and one may still be listening from within the fur-lined pouch…
⚠️ Adventurer’s Disclaimer:
Not responsible for pocket-dimensional squirrels, random mead leakage, or sudden urges to challenge nearby bards to a duel. If bag starts singing in Draconic, consult your local wizard.
